Given by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Grammy award formerly known as the Gramaphone Awards are given to outstanding achievements of the music industry. The annual ceremony features performances from some of the leading artists. Started in the year 1958, the awards are considered the most prestigious honor in the music industry till date. Here are some of the interesting highlights of 55th Annual Grammys:
Taylor’s opening: Remember Taylor Swift was a country artist? Now, she is a pop diva and is competing equally with Madonna, Britney Spears and Gaga in fashion, glitz and glamour. It’s definitely working for her if the last few red-carpet appearances are to be taken into consideration! She kicked off Grammys with her hit, ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’.
J Lo’s Fashion: Guess J-Lo didn’t bother to read through the memo sent by CBS. It sent word to the participants asking them to keep their attire to good taste (in short, not wear any skimpy attire). Jennifer Lopez is known to spice up any event she attends by wearing barely-there dresses. She didn’t disappoint us this time. She graced Grammys’ red carpet in a skimpy number with a thigh-bearing right slight. She definitely had heads turning her way when she walked down the red carpet!
Kanye boycotts Grammys: Kanye West boycotted Grammys and took off to Brazil with his girl friend, Kim Kardashian. The love birds were seen holidaying in Brazil and were snapped at the Christ the Redeemer statue posing the same way. Jay-Z accepted awards on his behalf while Kanye was happily baby-mooning in Rio. Kanye and Kim are expecting their first baby this July.
Adele’s 2012 marathon is 2013’s old-school: Adele, who dominated last year’s Grammys by winning six awards managed to bag just one award this year. She won the best pop solo performance for ‘Fire to the Rain’.
Justin’s flashy show: Justin Timberlake was supposed to make a roaring come-back after five years. His performance at the Grammy was definitely entertaining. Adding Jay-Z to the performance was an icing on the cake. However, the performance scored high on concept and very low on originality. The music in itself didn’t sound right. Though his performance during the Super Bowl was received well, his appearance at the Grammys was mediocre.
